In preparation for the EESC s opinion on Homelessness (rapporteur Mr Eugen Lucan - Various Interests), the Section for Employment, Social Affairs and Citizenship (SOC) is holding a public hearing on combating the problem of homelessness.

This hearing aims to inform participants about the latest developments in this field, share examples of best practices from different levels and discuss the possibility of launching an EU strategy to address this extreme form of social exclusion.

The EESC will be seeking the views of representatives from the EU institutions, public authorities, experts and stakeholders. A collection of sketches about The Life on the Street by the former homeless Romanian artist Vasile Gabi Grama, will be shown just outside of the hearing room.
